I believe each of us is made with a desire to create, to bring something into the world that only our individual minds and hands can fashion. Just think, if you continue to allow excuses to stop you from releasing your creation to the world, we all miss out! We miss the amazing recipes, profound writings, beautiful landscape designs, colorful paintings, or incredible technology that we were meant to experience because of you!
Thank goodness some of us are brave enough and passionate enough to lead the way. My friend, Kevin Scheimreif, is such a person. Kevin makes the most amazing hand crafted wood furniture. He started his career in construction but in 2013 he was feeling burnt out and longed for a job that allowed him more creativity. After a friend had asked him to build a floating stair case out of wood and metal, the creative switch was flipped and his enthusiasm lead to making furniture.
I am so glad Kevin pursued his dream to create these amazing, one of a kind pieces. His designs incorporate beautiful wood grain with waterfall or live edges. Each piece is simply stunning and I love seeing what he will think of next. It blows my mind to see what beautiful masterpieces he is able to bring to life out of a slab of wood. The world needs beauty in every form and Kevin brings it with his artisan furniture. Just take a look at some of his amazing pieces.
It would be misleading if we didn’t mention how much hard work and effort goes into crafting each piece of furniture. Kevin has to work long hours to collect the wood and haul it back to his shop where he dries it in a kiln. After it is dry, he begins the process of cutting and sanding and slowly his art begins to emerge into varying forms of tables, desks, or book shelves. His furniture is a combination of beauty and function. If you want to see more details on his creative process you can check out Steel and Grain on Instagram where Kevin has over 89,000 followers.
Being creative and chasing your dreams has its fair share of stress. As Kevin will tell you, being your own boss isn’t always easy. He has kindly agreed to offer his hard earned wisdom to those of us who are still standing at the edge of the water not yet ready to jump in and pursue our ideas and dreams.
